Burnout and Therapy

The attempt for a remedy of a health problem is called therapy. It is also a synonymous with the word treatment in the medical world. Psychologists refer it as psychotherapy. The treatment intended for preventing a medical condition from occurring is called prophylactic therapy or preventive therapy by way of avoiding sickness, injury or a disease in the first place before it occurs.

For example, vaccines that prevent a diseases. E.g. polio. It has been researched that walking bare foot is good for foot development of young children and for runners to be sensitive to injury.

Physical therapy is a health care profession that is concerned with identifying the quality of life and also maximizing the quality of life and movement potential around spheres of prevention, promotion, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the patients. It involves the physical, psychological, emotional and the social well being of people.

Behavioral therapies work for weight loss without the help of medication through diet and other behavioral ways and thus they help obese people to shed some of the excess weight. Research has shown that behavioral therapy has helped people loss more weight faster than people who do not receive any special therapy.


Supportive therapy does not improve nor improve any condition that is underlying. It's used in palliative care since it increases the patient’s comfort.

Abortive therapy is done to prevent a medical condition from progressing to further conditions. When medication is taken at the earliest signs of a disease it’s called an abortive therapy for example the very symptoms of a migraine headache.


Coping is designed to elicit some information that a patient resources have gone without them noticing. The counselor seeks to encourage the clients to repeat what has worked in the past and helps them to be confident over a period of time.
