Many concepts and ideas have been introduced in this preceding. These now require a broad, clarifying structure. At this point I am going to prepend a scheme to serve as an abstract of the last and an orientation for the following chapters. The various stages of yoga and of analytic science will be set side by side again.
Thereby, the overlapping of Indian and Western discourse will become visible, and will serve as a basis to formulate a new one in the end.
Subsequently, special focus will be made on the distinction between the SHINES and the SPEAKS, and of their combinatorics. The foregoing chapter was mostly concerned with the SHINES, as is the case for this one. The next chapter will mostly deal with the SPEAKS.
With ‘pind’, the body and its chakra are meant. If confined to biology, one cannot yet engage in a discourse (in pind). This can only be done at the beginning of a discourse, if the entirety of nature is included. The reason for this is, that It already SPEAKS in nature, in this universal SHINES, though this may be very rudimentary. ‘First man’ also has a part to play in it, before his becoming a human being in this actual sense.
An initial discourse, however, contains that ‘first man’ (or early man, such as the Neanderthal), who can already speak, even if it is only a stuttering or uttering of sounds. This utterance of sounds (a very primary-primitive type of SPEAKS) – again, according to Lacan – leads him through the first ‘determining images’, which he rather experiences than perceives.
We will start from bottom and then progress to the top and in the same way we will do it in the following chapters. The initial discourse is very relatedly to the everyday egoism, to the primary I - sensations, a still undifferentiated self awareness, if this is perhaps to be put an interstage higher. Because this is already a purely spiritual level which take share in the ‘astral’.
